Refocusing

ROW80 check-in
It’s completely crazy; I know, but there it is. I’ve been banging my head on the desk in frustration for days now, you understand, you’ve all been there. Oh yes you have. Don’t lie to me, Buddy, I see you over there in the corner shaking your head. It’s written all over your forehead in goose eggs. You have been there, we all have.
Where exactly? Right here. It begins as you get on a roll, things are going your way, you are a freaking force of nature, unstoppable, and then life tosses a chaos grenade in front of you. Suddenly there are things coming at you from all sides, you have intrusions, obligations, friends and family who need some face time, flat tires, bad hair, and hacked computers.
So you put on the big girl panties and deal, you fix, visit, love, laugh, shop, and enjoy, until things settle down again. Ok, so now you are back at the computer, staring at a blank page, the momentum you had days before long since gone, and the blank page is staring back at you, defying you to mar its pristine surface. It is a stare down contest and of course, you flinch first. Head to desk. “Come on brain, work, dammit, work.” Repeat until ideas come or unconsciousness.
Yes indeed, here I am, scratching my head and trying to get refocused. The dust has settled for now and I have some catching up to do. Let’s begin with the ROW80 check-in.
Goals.
One: Write something at least five times or more each week.
Ok, I did manage this one. Yeaaa me! sigh
Two: Write a minimum of 2500 on my WIP words each week.
Only managed about half that. bugger
Three: Publish at least six new novels in 2012.
Stalled here for the moment.
Four: Read and review six or more first novels by new authors. (I don’t give bad reviews, so don’t panic, I’m friendly, honest. J
Nothing done here in the past few days. Sorry!
Five: do more to be supportive of new and struggling writers.
From now on I will strive to double the RTs on Twitter as well as read and comment on more blogs.
Six: Publish a small collection of erotic short stories. Hey, I’ve been around for over sixty years, and this one is on my bucket list. I will make it happen in 2012.
Ok, due to all the madness brought on by PayPal’s attempts to censor what folks are allowed to read I am setting this aside. I will add a new goal instead. In future goal six will be:
Blog two or three times each week over and above the ROW80 check-ins.
Ok, that’s about it for today folks. How is it going for you? Did you hit your targets? Let me know how it went for you.
Oh, and lets help each other out a bit here. Please go to my Facebook page, and my Amazon page, and hit the “Like” button. I’ll happily do the same for you.

ROW80 Check-in #14

It’s check-in time again. Where does the week go? Anyway, it’s been a week of ups and downs, but it was worth it. I’ve now got all my work up on Amazon and it appears to be selling well. I’m pretty pleased with the results. Now I have to learn all the tricks etc. for the Amazon site. Darn, I wish I was more tech savvy. Ok, on to the goals.
Goals.
One: Write something at least five times or more each week.
So far so good since Wednesday.
Two: Write a minimum of 2500 on my WIP words each week.
I still haven’t started the new WIP. I’ve been working through a few possibilities in my head before getting started. Tomorrow is WSD day. (Write Something, Dammit!)
Three: Publish at least six new novels in 2012.
I published 26 or more novels on Amazon this week, does that count? No? Sigh
Four: Read and review six or more first novels by new authors. (I don’t give bad reviews, so don’t panic, I’m friendly, honest. J
I finished reading Keeper by Kristine Williams and posted the review. Find the book here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/6403
Five: do more to be supportive of new and struggling writers.
I’m now finishing up A Breath of Hope by Robert Taylor. Loving this one. You can find it here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/79381
Six: Publish a small collection of erotic short stories. Hey, I’ve been around for over sixty years, and this one is on my bucket list. I will make it happen in 2012.
This has gotten pushed aside recently, but I hope to get back to it soon.
Ok, that’s about it for today folks. How is it going for you? Did you hit your targets? Let me know how it went for you.

Breathe

I’m calling this post breathe, because I need to remind myself to take the time to do just that. Seriously. This past two weeks have been busy and then some. This is week started out brilliant as I launched my new Vampire book, the Immortal Tigress. This is a different take on the beginnings of the legend. I published the novel on Smashwords then set about promoting and publicizing it. It was much later in the day I learned that Smashwords was down.
That was a bit of a shock, and they stayed down for nearly two days. How the heck was I supposed to deal with that? I had spread the word, but no one could find the book. It was time for some damage control, but what can you do really?
After I got back from the city Wednesday I knew it was time for action. Thursday I went to the Smashwords page and opted out of their distribution to Amazon, seeing as how it never materialized anyway.
I set up my author page on Amazon and slowly, one at a time, uploaded all my books to Amazon myself. The deed is done now and all my work is available on Amazon now. Cool. I even bit the bullet and listed my new book for their lending library. So, there is where the week went. It was madness, but it is done now. All my work can be found on Amazon here:
You can also find the Immortal Tigress here:
I will keep you posted on how this all works out. Just go to the right of the page and hit the follow button to keep tabs on my misadventures. Thanks!
