Garage Talk

Hi folks,

This is a conversation I’ve had a few times at the garage while waiting for my car to be ready.

Old fart to me: Woman, why the hell are you still driving that junker? You’re in here getting it fixed every other week.

Me to Him: Well, let me see.  It’s paid for long since.  I only spent about a thousand on repairs last year.  It’s cheaper to insure.  When I do get repairs I’m paying my neighbor instead of some CEO in a dealership so my money stays in the community.  I don’t mind the dogs being in it.  Should I keep going?  There’s more.  Let’s see, it has a small engine so last year I spent less on gas than you did last month.  Did I mention I don’t have payments on it?

Him: Oh fer fuck sake. Walks away.

Me. quietly.  Another one bites the dust. 🙂

Okay, I’ll admit it, I had way too much fun with that.

Now for the ROW80 check-in.

Okay, ROW80. My target for this round is 60,000 words.

Last check in….1500

Hope all of you are exceeding your targets this week.

  1. Proud of you for keeping that car and letting the mechanic know what you think of him. Way to go! Hope the repair bills go down and the car keeps running for you. Don’t think of it as an old junker, I think it’s a faithful friend!

    1. Hey Chris, yeah, old Betsy has been a faithful friend for many years. I think she’s got a few left in her yet. I call her the dogmobile as I’ve usually got the pack riding in the back.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. LOL Love this, Pru! I can relate to the not minding having the dogs in it. I’m about to bite the bullet and buy a new vehicle, and I’m dreading the hubs’ reaction to the first muddy paw print.

    1. Oh, I so know that feeling. That look you get the first time the new car smells like dog instead of new car. I wish you luck. 🙂

  3. Yes, great job on the words last week! And good for you Pru for sticking to your guns. I love that my car is paid for. I so do not miss the payments. And if the maintenance is low, why buy a new one? I must say you have quite the finesse with your mechanic. lol. 🙂

    1. Hey Karen, thanks. Actually, it wasn’t the mechanic I was talking to, just one of the old guys that hangs out there. The mechanic loves me, I pay him in cash. 🙂
